Tullamore Community Arts Centre

Tullamore (Ireland)
Public Arts Centre
Site Area: 10,800 m2
Building: 1,600 m2
Budget: 3.000.000 €

The new Arts Centre is conceived as a long strip bordering the South edge of Kilbridge Park.

Two main volumes on the sides house the main spaces of the auditorium and the art spaces. The lobby is a diagonal space that crosses the building, linking the“performance” side to the “gallery” side and allowing a double entrance to the building from the park and from Kilbride Street.

The main gallery space constitutes the West side of the building, opening to the North through windows and skylights that can be regulated remotely to account for exhibitions in which light control is of importance.

The auditorium’s internal shell was geometrically optimised to achieve a homogeneous distribution of sound levels on every seat.
